Microneedle Patch technology is a delivery system, that shall enable the drug to overcome the skin barrier. It helps to enhance the delivery of a drug through the transdermal/intradermal route overcoming various problems associated with the conventional formulations. The LTS Micro Array Patch (MAP) platform is based on dissolvable microneedles, which offers many advantages for a custom-made design.

Microneedle Patch design can vary in size and amount of needles and in the material used. Various types of microneedles are under development e.g. solid, dissolving, hydrogel, coated and hollow microneedles.

LTS MAP technology is based on dissolvable microneedles. Dissolvable needle technology allows consistent content uniformity and can achieve subsequent accurate patient dosing.

The LTS MAP platform allows a tailor made product approach since the dissolvable needles can vary e.g. in:

  • Number
  • Length
  • Shape
  • Mechanical properties
  • Interspace
  • Release (immediate or sustained)
