On the occasion of the visit of Korea´s Prime Minister – Ms. Park Guen-hye’s on March 27th in Berlin, LTS and the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) and their respective FAU Busan Campus in Korea, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) governing the scientific cooperation.

In 2006 the “Korea-Campaign” of the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) already showed first signs of progress as part of the initiative “advertising for the innovative research location Germany”. Both Korean and German parties are particularly interested in this type of educational trendsetting as well as the exchange of knowledge. One of the most remarkable aspects is the bandwidth of international partners from Universities and their research institutions, science organizations, non-universal competence networks to companies and other institutions.

By opening a satellite office in South Korea, the German University of Erlangen-Nuremberg initiates a new phase internationalization. Since 2011 students of the FAU (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg) Campus in Busan/Korea share the Erlangen quality standards for Masters Degrees in Chemical and Biological Engineering. To strengthen the scientific and economical network between Korea and Germany the FAU Chancellor Mr. Thomas A.H Schöck and the Scientific Manager of the FAU Campus Busan Mr. Professor Dr. Reiner Buchholz signed an agreement with six German Companies and research centers at the “Korea – Germany Hidden Champion Conference”. Prospective Engineers from FAU Busan university campus can complete internships with companies such as LTS Lohmann.

Mr. Dr. Jörg Mayer head of Business Development Europe represented LTS signing the MoU.
